Peter Dawkins, MA, Dip.Arch, Architect

Peter is a philosopher, historian, author, lecturer and workshop leader, specialising in particular in the Western wisdom traditions, Baconian and Shakespearean studies, the Matter of Britain, and sacred art, architecture and landscape.

Educated at King Edward’s High School, Birmingham, and St Catharine’s College, Cambridge University, he practised as an architect 1969-78, after which he became the founder-director of the Francis Bacon Research Trust and Zoence Academy. The FBRT specialises in research into Bacon, Shakespeare, the Rosicrucians and the Western wisdom traditions. Zoence Academy offers a comprehensive, practical and up-to-date education in the core truths of the Western wisdom teachings and sacred landscape.

Peter gives talks, seminars, workshops and summer schools, and leads special wisdom tours, pilgrimages and retreats, in many countries. He has given Wisdom of Shakespeare seminars and summer schools for over twenty years, and is an advisor to actors and directors, including (during 1997-2005) the Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London where he led Wisdom of Shakespeare events with Mark Rylance, the Artistic Director.

Peter’s many publications include an ongoing series on the Wisdom of Shakespeare in each Shakespeare play, of which five are published so far: The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, Julius Caesar, The Tempest and Twelfth Night. His researches have taken him deep into the mystery of the Shakespeare authorship, about which he has written two books, Bacon’s Shakespeare and The Shakespeare Enigma. His published summary of Bacon's grand Cabalistic or Rosicrucian scheme, the Great Instauration or Six Days’ Work, is contained in his book, Building Paradise. Peter has, moreover, designed the FBRT website to stimulate ideas and to inform and educate enquirers after truth in Bacon’s scheme, which is a vehicle for the Western Wisdom Tradition as well as a method to teach Bacon’s gift to humanity—the ‘Art of Discovery’ [of all truth]. The books are available from the FBRT Bookshop.

Peter received an award for distinguished scholarship from Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, USA, in April 2008.
