Zoence
Residential Weekend Workshop
Paneurythmy and Sacred Movement

23-25 April 2010
Holycombe
Whichford, Warwickshire, England
Weekend Workshop
led by
Sarah Dawkins & Suzy Straw
Like Yoga, Paneurhythmy relaxes the mind and body; it centres, balances and integrates us, and puts us in right relationship to other people, to nature and to the universe.
Origins
Paneurhythmy is a joyful, meditational exercise-dance originating in Bulgaria, as a culmination of the work of the Master Beinsa Douno. Literally, the word Paneurythmy means ‘the movements and rhythms of the universe’.
Relating to the natural environment
Working with the energies of Nature, paneurhythmy is danced in the landscape, in the mornings, between the spring and autumn equinoxes. The simple, graceful movements each have a deep meaning and healing power on the dancers and on the environment.
Relaxes Mind and Body
The dance is a gentle exercise linking our mind and our body, relieving stress and tension, relaxing ourselves physically, emotionally and mentally.
Venue
The workshop will take place at Holycombe, a beautiful home and retreat set in the ancient village of Whichford in the rolling green Cotswold hills of England’s ‘Shakespeare Country’.
Nestling in a valley, Holycombe has extensive gardens, a lake and a stone circle (modern) standing on a ‘sacred hill’ and surrounded by a moat that once encircled a Norman castle.
Holycombe is 15 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, 12 miles from Banbury (and the M40), 5 miles from Moreton-in-the-Marsh and 3 miles from the prehistoric Rollright Stones. Banbury and Moreton-in-the-Marsh both have railway links to London. (See map.)
Programme
During the weekend we will learn the first part of the Paneurhythmy and learn more about the background and ideas which are embodied in the movements of the dance and the philosophy of Beinsa Douno (Peter Deunov). We will be dancing in the beautiful surroundings of Holycombe and will be visiting local sacred sites. The principles of Zoence will be explained and incorporated within the weekend.
The workshop will start on Friday at 6:30pm for 7:00pm supper, and finish on Sunday at 4:30pm.
Accommodation, Meals and Refreshments
Shared accommodation at Holycombe, refreshments, vegetarian lunches and evening meals are provided and included in the fee.
