One of the secrets of life is to breathe well. In both Eastern and Western traditions, the Swan has been a symbol of this perfect, beautiful harmonious breath – a breath that can bring universal consciousness and awareness of all life as divine – a breath that brings joy to the breather and gives joy to others.

Another secret that goes hand in hand with this is doing the right thing in the right place at the right time and with the right orientation or purpose, such a purpose being one of love.

This summer school will be based at two key places in the great heart chakra of Europe, each of which is a ‘temple’ garden, expressing the wisdom of the universe in its beauty and form. These places, brought into being with love, inspiration and devoted hard work, are geomantic manifestations of what are known as the Twins – the two who together form the Swan, the Holy Breath vehicle of the Divine. In Hindu tradition these twins are Ham and Sa who, united in love, form the Hamsa swan vehicle of Brahma and Sarasvati. In classical Western tradition the twins are the Gemini, Castor and Pollux.

The idea of the summer school is not only to learn more of what this means for ourselves personally, but also to practice, act out and experience the joy of this union of opposites in these remarkable but different twin gardens in the heart chakra of Europe. By doing this, as part of doing the right thing in the right place at the right time, we can perform an act of love or service for Europe and the whole planet whilst at the same time enjoying ourselves and learning a great deal.

Europe takes its name from the myth of Europa and the Bull; thus the continent can be understood to be associated with Taurus, ruler of the throat chakra – and, indeed, to be the throat chakra of the planet. But, at another level, the throat chakra is associated with Cygnus, the Swan, symbolic of creative breath, poetry and higher intelligence.

Just as the Bull has a geomantic manifestation in the landscape of Europe, so also does the Swan. The Constance landscape zodiac is the geomantic heart chakra of both Bull and Swan. The Bull is awoken; the Swan is ready to awake. Love and loving consciousness lovingly applied is the Awakener.

Come and join us in this act of love, breathing love, breathing joy, for the good of each other and the whole world.

Programme
The summer school will begin on Friday 13 August with an evening talk, ‘The Swan Breath of Love,’ at the Seehotel Schiff, Mannenbach, on the Swiss shore of the Untersee. (Times: 20:00-22:00.)

Saturday will be an all-day workshop in the garden of Ruth Maria Kubitschek, in Fruthwilen, Switzerland, overlooking Untersee. (Times: 10:30-17:30, with 1 hour break for picnic lunch.)

Sunday will be an all-day workshop in the garden of Renata Caddy, in Daisendorf/Meersburg, Germany, overlooking Bodensee. (Times: 10:30-17:30, with 1 hour break for picnic lunch.)

Each of the workshop days will begin with Paneurhythmy, a dance-yoga led by Sarah Dawkins. Paneurhythmy originates from the Rila Mountains of Bulgaria, home of Orpheus, whose emblem was the Swan. The dance is another form of breathing, uniting each person with a partner, with the group, with nature, with the universe.
